While I’m busy restocking, Joann comes in and says, “Hi Dylan.” She grabs the ten-dollar wine she buys regularly. “I have a ten. I’ll leave it here.”
Later, Clark shows up. “Hi Dylan,” as he heads for the Pinot Noirs. Our “How are you?” chat is pleasant.
Ron Johnson arrives late as usual. “I’m in a hurry.” Always needs chilled bottles. I doubt he remembers my name.
For many patrons, simple “Have a nice day” exchanges suffice with that Sunday Guy tending the wine shop—that’s me. I help them all, but those like Clark and Joann make my day.
